![]() ![]() I’m just gonna route envelope two here I messed around with the ranges and I liked this range. However,I am going to modulate it with an envelope. Right around here. Now this doesn’t sound terribly different from a saw. Now, let’s add another layer of movement and we want to be in a sort of a different pace so that it sort of kind of interacts with the filter movement in unpredictable ways, so I’m gonna take our oscillator over here and let’s switch to a wavetable again I was just experimenting and I like the way this one sounded. All right, so there’s our filter movement. I just kind of like to how I’m always getting this nice bright attack on the sound and I really want to accentuate this cutoff movement,so I’m gonna increase the resonance. You don’t have to do this, this is just a preference for me. There we go! Okay, so that’s our first point ofĮvolution, right? It’s a very slow change in our cutoff And I also made this change so that it always starts at the top. I’m gonna set it so it’s not syncing to the tempo make it really slow. So, let’s enable itĪnd I messed around for a little while and I just ended up liking how the 18 dB slope felt.Īll right, let me take LFO 1,modulate the cutoff and I don’t need a ton here just a little bit up and down. Then I’m gonna filter it and this will be our first sort of slow, evolving sound. Then I want to just smear the sound a little bit, so I’m going to give it some unison. Look at it… all right and now, we’ve got just a good ol’ plain saw wave so, first thing I’m going to do is just give ourselves a long release.įor the amp envelope, simple here just so when I let go of the key it rings out. This is a pad that changes in different ways continually over a long period of time so here’s one I cooked up.Īll right, so the key to a pad like this is two things: layers and tons of modulation. So I wanna to recreate this from scratch. We’ll stop talking about adjectives, I promise. If you have an evolving pad and would like to share it, visit our Forum. ![]() We’ll also answer the question “How many adjectives are too many adjectives in a blog post?” We’ll learn how to design the ebb and flow of a long, lush, moving pad. In this video, I’ll take you through the process of creating an evolving pad from scratch using Serum. ![]()
